Karachi: Jamshoro Power Company and Seimens-HEI will be developing the first super-critical coal powered plant in Pakistan in Jamshoro, according to a statement released by the Power Division on Thursday.
This project will have a capacity of 660 MW, and the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for it was signed at a ceremony in Islamabad yesterday. A contract for its five-year operation & maintenance (O&M) was also signed. The EPC contract price for Lot-I was USD 562 million, and for Lot-II, the EPC contract price is PKR 313 million, which will be signed once financial arrangements are finalised. The signed lot is funded by the Asian Development Bank, and will be completed within 42 months. The project will be using 80 % imported sub-bituminous coal, and 20 % local Thar lignite for cost-efficiency.
