Islamabad: The government has allocated an additional amount of PKR 2 billion for the development work being carried out to expand Jaglo-Skadu Road, a news source reported. The executive had initially allocated an amount PKR 3.50 billion for the purpose during the current fiscal year.

Under the extension project, the 164-kilometre long Jaglot-Skardu Road will allow vehicles to move at a speed of 90 kilometre per hour on the balanced terrain and 60 kilometres on uneven terrain. Furthermore, the road is also being expanded to a width ranging between 12.3 to 9.1 metres. Similarly, the width of road’s travel way ranges between 7.3 to 6.4 metres.

According to a report, 34% work on improvement, up-gradation, construction and widening of the road project has been completed. The project is being developed by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). The road following its expansion is expected to connect Skardu and the Karakoram Highway, and assist in making the commute easier for locals as well as tourists.
