Islamabad: Italy’s Marble Association has agreed to help Pakistan to develop its marble and granite sectors. This will be in addition to establishing a technical and scientific international trade centre in the country.
The Memorandum of Intent between Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) and the Marble Association of Italy was signed on 12th February, 2018. This agreement has already been approved by the Federal Cabinet.
The PASDEC CEO Zahid Maqsood Sheikh was present along with Marble Association of Italy’s Honorary President Flavio Marabelli. A centre in Risalpur will be set up for this, for which both PASDEC and the Italian Association will contribute an equal amount of 400,000 euros.
Speaking at the event, Maqsood said that more such agreements would be signed with various other stone producing countries to upgrade mining and processing methodology in the country. This facility is going to be equipped with the latest machinery to provide technical expertise and scientific education to operators.
