Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui recently stated that artificial intelligence (AI) was the future of the world and this technology should be integrated in Pakistan, according to a news report.

He stated that the country needed to incorporate AI across a number of industries in order to compete on a global level. He made these statements at the concluding session of Pakistan’s first Artificial Intelligence Summit 2019, held at a hotel on Wednesday. This one-day event invited industry experts and stakeholders in order to usher Pakistan into the era of AI and machine learning.

Siddiqui was the chief guest of this conference, and said that AI was considered to be the most reliable technology in the modern world. Throughout various panel discussions, it was determined that Pakistan counted among the top ten countries to adopt AI technology, but still had a long way to go in order to compete with the tech giants of the world. The country has made strides in the industry, particularly due to foreign investment.
