Islamabad: The district administration has asked the public to help identify owners of benami properties, so that a crackdown may be launched against them, a news source reported. The decision was taken in a meeting presided over by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Amir Ali Ahmed.

The chief commissioner informed the members of the meeting that the government has issued clear instructions to take legal action against owners of benami property, and undeclared bank accounts. These bank accounts holders have registered themselves under different names. Similarly, property is also purchased in various sectors managed by the capital development authority on names other than that of the owners.

The concerned authority has requested the public to help them identify these owners, and bank account operators. They also assured the public that the names of the people that identify benami asset holders will be kept confidential.
