Islamabad: The Federal Commission has decided to launch a public transport system in Islamabad based on the findings of the 2017 census, as reported by the news outlets on January 31. The National Engineering Services of Pakistan (NESPAK) will develop a feasibility report for the project in the following month to examine the project’s requirements and budget.

According to the meeting, which was presided over by Chairman CDA Amir Ali Ahmad, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBD) would assign a focal person to provide data for the transport system from the 2017 census. The data will serve as the foundation for estimating the services required for the project. Furthermore, the panel also debated the permission policy for the addition of storeys to existing structures in the capital city. The proposed policy will be applicable to all sectors while keeping the parking capacity of the buildings in mind.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the relocation and development of water supply infrastructure in Sectors G-6 and G-7, 10th Avenue, and Alipur Farash’s low-income housing project.
