Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority has highlighted that the capital requires a modern solid waste management system, according to a news report. The civic body has also formulated a comprehensive plan to counter problems associated with an ill-waste management system.
Various residents have also filed complaints against the open dumped waste and waste discharge in open streams and rivers in the city which is causing various diseases in the area as well. On a daily basis, the city generates 600 metric tonnes of solid waste which isn’t properly managed. Despite various claims being made by the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI), no significant steps have been taken.
