Islamabad: The Islamabad Regional Tax Office (RTO) has established special market committees in order to increase registrations of businesses located within the jurisdiction of the capital city, a news source reported.

The RTO has taken the measure in collaboration with the trade associations and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) in its bid to enhance revenue collection from cottage industries, chain stores/shops, and retailers.
Currently, the RTO officers have geared their efforts towards surpassing the revenue targets set for the current fiscal year. They also hope to register more number of taxpayers with the help of the trade associations, ICCI, and the market committees.
These RTO officers are also waiting for the CNIC condition to come into effect for the Points of Sale (POS) for Tier-1 retailers having premises with covered area of 1,000 square feet.

Meanwhile, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended its deadline for filing income tax returns/statements for the Tax Year 2019.
