Islamabad: The capital city’s has regained its status as the United Nation’s (UN) ‘family station’ on an international level after almost 12 years, a news source reported. In this regard, Minister for Interior Brig (retired) Ijaz Ahmad Shah met with a delegation of several UN representatives.

The delegation members stated that they were satisfied with the security situation in Islamabad. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the UN had retracted the capital’s status as a family station in 2008 due to security concerns.
Following the ministry’s efforts for improving the security environment in Islamabad under Shah’s leadership, the UN has now restored its family station status for the capital.
Moreover, the interior minister lauded the efforts of the Islamabad police and other law enforcement agencies in this regard.

Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Amir Zulfiqar Khan was also present at the occasion. He said that that it was possible to significantly improve Islamabad’s security situation due to the policy proposed by the interior minister.
