Rawalpindi: The 8-member team representing the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) has initiated the survey for laying the 100-kilometre-long Islamabad/Rawalpindi Circular Railway Track along the Leh Expressway, according to a news report published on August 20. The team carried out the survey work under strict security surveillance.

As per news sources, the team visited the following sites; Rialto Chowk, Soan River, Ammar Shaheed Chowk, Saddar Road, New Katarian, and Gawalmandi Chowk. According to the project’s focal person Mir Atiq-ur-Rehman, the team has been conducted a detailed survey of the various sites where the track is to be laid.
Reportedly, the Chinese experts have also initiated the work to prepare the project’s feasibility study. The feasibility study report is expected to be shared with the concerned authority in the next 6 months. As revealed earlier, the Circular Railway Track is among the projects being constructed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) developments.

The railway track will be laid along the Nullah Leh, all the way from Islamabad Secretariat to Islamabad International Airport. Sources also revealed that after conducting the survey, team members had a meeting with the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Murtaza to discuss the various aspects of the project development.
