Islamabad: The Islamabad Police may be tasked with supervising the operations of the Safe City project in the federal capital, a news source reported. In this regard, a meeting headed by Safe City Director General Sarfaraz Ahmed Falki was held yesterday to discuss the mechanism of this transfer of responsibility.

Senior members representing the Safe City Authority, along with the other stakeholders concerned, attended the session. During the proceeding, Safe City Director Falki remarked that Islamabad Police would improve the surveillance arrangements of the federal capital via the Safe City project. He also expressed his hopes for the introduction of further improvements to the system.

Currently, the Safe City Islamabad project is run by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) and MS Huawei. The two entities are expected to hand over the system to the Islamabad Police after the necessary documentation formalities have been fulfilled, and the existing flaws in its operations have been resolved in accordance with the gap analysis.
