Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has presented the proposed Islamabad Master Plan 2040 before the Supreme Court (SC), a news source reported. The court was hearing a petition on illegal construction in Bani Gala.

Commenting on the master plan report, SC Justice Umar Atta Bandial said that the CDA should ensure thorough implementation of this plan. The SC was informed that the cabinet has approved revisions in master plan for Islamabad. To this, Justice Bandial said that the approval of the master plan is a positive development. The SC also demanded details on the waste management protocols the CDA has set in the master plan.

The attorney general informed the court that solid waste biogas will meet the energy needs of Islamabad’s Fruit and Vegetable Market. The apex court directed that the concerned departments must ensure that the tariff for energy generated from this plant should be affordable. The master plan still awaits approval from the Planning Commission and Central Development Working Party.
