Islamabad: In a recent meeting with the federal cabinet, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has rejected all proposed names of the Islamabad International Airport, according to a news report. This new airport was to be inaugurated on 20th April 2018, but has been postponed till 3rd May 2018.
Sources have revealed that the PM has left the decision open for debate. Representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) suggested that the airport should be named after some prominent personality in Pakistan’s history. There seems to be a major consensus on naming the airport after Liaquat Ali Khan, however, the CAA representatives have highlighted that for most foreign and domestic correspondence, they’ve been referring to the airport as Islamabad International Airport. Despite this, a proper name for the airport remains to be decided.
