Rawalpindi: A burst water pipe flooded the check-in and domestic baggage claims area of Islamabad International Airport, reported a news source. The incident took place on Monday, April 16, during a test-trial of the facility before its anticipated launch on April 20, 2018.
A senior official from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) clarified that this was only a minor leak which occurred because of mishandling by the labourers, and there was no damage done to the fittings and machines.
The CAA Director Media Management Syed Aamir Mehboob specified that such leaks occur during most trial runs and that this poses no problem for the overall functioning of facilities at this airport. The equipment installed at the airport is all in good shape.
