Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja on Wednesday (December 29) revealed that an international standard high-tech cricket stadium will be developed in Islamabad as a new venue for the Champion Trophy 2025, news sources reported. In this regard, the board has submitted an application to acquire land in the capital city.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan is expected to lay the project’s foundation stone soon, revealed Raja. The chairman further stated that the cricket stadium will give fans an international standard atmosphere. It will have a state-of-the-art high-performance centre as well as facilities for hosting international cricket tournaments and matches. He stated that the establishment of the sports facility will usher in a new era in the country’s cricket growth by providing a venue for future players to train.

In other cricket-related developments, the PCB and the Sindh government have agreed to rebuild and renovate 17 cricket fields around the province. In this respect, a meeting was held to deliberate on the matter as well as its budget.
