Islamabad: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Monday (October 04) announced the establishment of an Air Patrolling Unit (APU) in the capital city of Islamabad, news sources reported. Equipped with drones and locators, the unit will be dispatched in the urban areas of the city vulnerable to street crimes and a crime against private property, including burglaries, robberies, snatching, street crimes and automobile theft.
Talking to the media, Sheikh Rashid said that this APU will work in collaboration with the Safe City Authority to deter crime and make the capital safe and secure. In this regard, more drone cameras have been procured for surveillance in the city. In principle, the said unit will be able to monitor the anti-social elements with the help of drones equipped with cameras. Each drone will be capable of monitoring an area of a 1-kilometre radius remotely. He further said that an accumulative force of 1,000 personals will be added to the existing security infrastructure for added security.
In addition to this, the minister also announced the establishment of an Art and Craft village, Melody Market, a Food Park, and a club to provide entertainment and leisure activities to the citizens.
