Islamabad: The government has approved the formation of the Islamabad Development Working Party (IDWP) under the chairmanship of the chief commissioner, a news source reported.
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan accorded his approval during a meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC). The chief ministers of the four provinces, along with federal ministers concerned, also attended the meeting.

The IDWP will include members of the planning and finance ministers and other sectors. It will be empowered to approve development projects of up to PKR 60 million.
Moreover, the council approved a PKR 10 billion uplift package for rural areas of Islamabad. Under this initiative, the authorities concerned will carry out improvement and maintenance work on sewerage, sanitation, water supply, and roads in 31 union councils of the capital city.

At present, there are three entities responsible for carrying out development works in Islamabad. These include the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI), the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).
