Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has announced its decision to close all shopping malls, hotels, parks, city zoo and weekly bazaars in the capital city, a news source reported. The decision comes as part of efforts to discourage public gatherings amidst the coronavirus disease outbreak.

The decision came on Thursday, during a meeting held to review measures pertaining to prevention of spread of coronavirus disease in the capital. ICT deputy commissioner chaired the meeting that also decided to convert selected hostels and hotels into quarantine facilities.

On the other hand, all public and private hospitals will establish isolation wards with necessary equipment and rapid response units in preparation for a quick action against any suspected novel coronavirus cases. Reportedly, police officials are also deputed at all public and private hospitals to deal with any security situation.

The relevant authority would also formulate SOPs for burial ceremonies of coronavirus victims. The Ministry of Interior also decided to reduce the staff strength by 50% and to keep officials over 50 years of age at home.
