Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday (March 30) informed the media that it has developed over 50 new parks in the federal capital last year, news sources reported. The administration has invested PKR 341 million in similar recreational and aesthetic initiatives around the city.

According to the authority’s spokesperson, the parks have been developed in areas of the city that had been missing recreational and nature-oriented infrastructure, such as sectors I-14, I-16, D-12, I-11, G-11, I-10, F-11, F-10, I-9, I-8, Park Enclave, Diplomatic Enclave, G-7, H-8, F-6, Rawal Town, Shahzad Town, Bani Gala, Mulpur, G-14, E-11, Shakrial and Shakar Parian, and Khana Pull.
Moreover, it was revealed that the CDA is investing in other infrastructures such as an art gallery, centre square, and cricket ground in F-9 Park, the rehabilitation of the amphitheatre, a jogging track on the green belt connected to Sector E-9, wood carvings and calligraphy in F-9 Park, and the construction of a mosque in the park.

The parks on 7th Avenue, Sector E-7, Faisal Avenue, Zero Point, and Serena Chowk, according to the spokesman, also include cycling tracks and jogging paths for residents. The overall goal of such infrastructure development is to make the city more hospitable to residents and to provide healthy leisure opportunities.
