Lahore: The Inter State Gas Systems (ISGS) is to carry out an aerial survey ahead of the civil work on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, a news source reported. ISGS has decided to carry out the survey after securing approval from the Defence Ministry over the route of the project.
ISGC had approached the ministry in July 2017 for approval of the route and permission regarding the initiation of aerial route survey of TAPI’s portion falling in Pakistan’s territory.
The development comes after TAPI Pipeline Company Ltd CEO Muhammetmyrat Amanov asked Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan to hold the inauguration ceremony of TAPI in March 2019.
Amanov said heads of states of all four member countries should be requested to attend the inauguration ceremony. He also discussed the project’s timeline and other formalities.
The project would be completed in two phases; funds for Phase I would be secured using long-term debt sourced from a mixture of multilateral development agencies, export credit agencies, and commercial banks.
