Rawalpindi: Officials of the irrigation department recently briefed Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mehmood on the construction status of Daducha Dam, a news source reported on March 17.

They said that the dam had reached 12% of its total completion after the officials concerned addressed issues which were previously seen to impede the land acquisition process. They informed the commissioner that the process had been delayed due to the non-availability of some land providers since they were abroad.
In response, the Rawalpindi commissioner reiterated the importance of dam; saying that the said facility would fix depleting water levels of the city. He added that close to a 100 heavy machines were deployed at the project site.

He stated that the revenue authorities of both Rawalpindi and Chakwal have been asked to provide reasons for delay in the disbursement of payments to the land owners concerned.
