Islamabad: Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mohammad Ali Hosseini stated that the Iranian government is prepared to complete the gas pipeline between Iran and Pakistan in a bid to increase cooperation in the energy sector, according to news published on September 7.

The ambassador mentioned that Iran wants to cooperate with Pakistan on gas and other energy sources. He went on to say that there are no sanctions on Iran’s gas and are ready to work with Pakistan in the energy field. He further added that the completion of the pipeline will open new avenues for mutual cooperation between the countries.

Moreover, both countries are working on an electricity project; for which initial steps have been taken. The ambassador mentioned that there is a possibility of setting up banking channels in near future. He went on to say that the countries are making efforts to increase mutual trade to USD 5 billion.
Ambassador Hosseini highlighted that the two countries have many opportunities for investment in various sectors including industrial zones. He added that the North-South and East-West Corridors will enhance regional economic and trade integration with the Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, and Europe.
