Karachi: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced plans to modernize the Pakistan Coast Guards to combat smuggling, as reported on Wednesday. He announced this during a visit to the Pakistan Coast Guards Headquarters in Karachi on April 2.

During his visit, Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to martyrs and was briefed on the Coast Guards’ professional affairs, including anti-smuggling efforts and training. He praised the Guards’ dedication and highlighted their dual land and sea responsibilities.

According to sources, Naqvi was updated on seized items, including drugs, alcohol, and other contraband, and the disposal process. He expressed confidence in the Guards’ role during peace and crises. Furthermore, he extended best wishes to the Pakistan Coast Guards, pledging full government support to strengthen security and combat smuggling effectively.
