Gujranwala: Gujranwala Development Authority (GDA) Director General (DG) Naila Baqir, who is also the Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner, has instructed the GDA Enforcement Team to pace up and intensify its operations against the developers of illegal housing schemes and land subdivisions, reported a news source.

The GDA is also looking to complete an inquiry on cases pending against 57 illegal housing schemes on a priority basis. While giving these orders in a meeting, GDA DG Baqi also received a briefing on private housing schemes from GDA Town Planning Director Noman Raza. Raza informed her that Gujranwala District currently hosted a total of 257 illegal housing schemes and land subdivisions.

Out of these illegal projects, operations have been launched against the developers of 15 schemes, added Raza, while investigations against 57 more societies are underway.
Raza further said that the GDA will conduct all investigations against the developers concerned on merit. He asked the deputy commissioner to reject the inquiry cases recommended against developers who do not qualify for this scrutiny.
