Lahore: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab Wing opposed provincial government’s policy regarding the acquisition of fertile land for the installation of coal-based power plants and advised the government to use barren area for this purpose.
In a statement, PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed requested the federal government not to deprive farmers of their agricultural acreage. He emphasized that any development policy should be developed in context of the imperatives of social notions and requested the government to devise a mutually beneficial formula for the installation of power plants.
