Karachi: Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed recently revealed that the installation of tracks for the Karachi-Peshawar Main Line (ML-1) project will commence this year, a news source reported. He also expressed great hopes for the project’s successful completion; saying that the ML-1 project would improve the railways infrastructure and services in Pakistan.

He added that in the following three months, the Pakistan Railways would procure new washing lines for its Karachi and Lahore bound trains. Minister Rasheed told the press that the Sindh Express would follow its extended route from Sukkar to Multan from August 10.
He also said that owing to the damage caused to the tracks by water, the department repaired and utilised un-used carriages to accommodate the passengers. At present, there are 13,000 carriages serving the general public.

Furthermore, he requested the pedestrians and motorists to undertake safety measures while crossing the railway tracks, and requested the Sindh government to collaborate with the railways department in a bid to ensure safety of both locals and train tracks.
