Peshawar: The Communication and Works Department on Tuesday was informed that 65 mega road infrastructure are being currently executed in the newly-merged districts under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP), for which over PKR 17 billion were allocated in the current fiscal year (FY 2010-21), according to news sources.

This information was revealed in a meeting held under the chair of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan. The said meeting reviewed the current progress on the construction and rehabilitation of road infrastructure projects in the newly-merged districts.
Moreover, the meeting was informed that 114 other road infrastructure projects are also currently being developed under the provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP) with a sum of PKR 4 billion – which were allocated in the ADP of the current fiscal year (FY 2020-21).

The chief minister stressed on the importance of road communication network for the rapid development of the merged districts. He reiterated that the timely completion of these projects while maintaining quality standards is a top priority for the government.
