Lahore: The Punjab government has pushed the development of a flyover and underpass at Karim Market intersection at Allama Iqbal Town Lahore by six months and announced that it commence with the construction work on five mega-development projects of PKR 20.5 billion at the end of April this year, according to a news report published on March 7.

The provincial government is currently executing the ‘qualification of contractors, bidding process, award of contracts, transfer of funds etc’ for these five infrastructural mega projects in Lahore.
These projects that will be launched soon include:
- Construction of a flyover at Sheranwala Gate
- Construction of an underpass at Ghulab Devi Hospital
- Construction of additional lanes on the Lahore Bridge (Ferozepur Road)
- Construction of a flyover at Shahkam Chowk
- Construction of five underpasses on The Mall – and resolving traffic congestion at Barkat Market (Garden Town) Y-junction

Reportedly, the projects have been approved for launch and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has been tasked with developing these projects on a timely basis. These schemes have been commissioned under the light of research related to the volume of vehicles passing, traffic clogs, public necessity, environmental impact and pollution etc.
