Murree: Influence has always been one of the strongest forces that bend rules, and some influential people are exercising their power in Murree by erecting illegal structures despite the ban on all types of construction in the resort town.
The ban, which was imposed by the Punjab government, came into operation after the submission of repeated complaints regarding the construction of structures violating local building regulations.
According to a news source some of the violators were government officials, who admitted to constructing illegal buildings and reasoned that they are built for the benefit of the poor.
Of the buildings constructed in violation of the ban, most are located in Kashmiri Bazaar, Upper Jika Gali Road, Nair Goli Road, Darya Gali, Kuldana Road, Chhattar Garden, Bhurbhan and Danna. Some illegal buildings are still being constructed on Lower Jika Gali Road.
