Lahore: Punjab Industries and Trade Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat and took notice of the matter of delays being experienced by investors for obtaining the no-objection certificates (NOCs) for the establishment of new cement plants, according to news sources.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed matters regarding investment in the cement sector and the current progress on the establishment of new cement plants. He expressed dissatisfaction on the delayed NOC issuance and warned that any official or departments failing to complete their work on time will be held accountable.

Furthermore, the minister iterated that it was the responsibility of public departments to facilitate these private investors who are boosting the national economy by investing billions and creating employment opportunities. Iqbal also said that if new laws were required to expedite the establishment of cement plants, then it will be done.
