Lahore: The Punjab Government has approved several drafts pertaining to Punjab Labour Policy 2018, Punjab Occupational Safety and Health Act 2018, Punjab Domestic Act 2018, Agricultural Policy 2018, Punjab Whistleblower Protection Act and Vigilance Commission Act 2018 and Punjab Prevention of Conflict of Interest Act 2018, a news source reported. The approval was accorded during a meeting of the provincial cabinet presided over by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
The cabinet also approved amendments in Punjab Right to Information Act 2018, Punjab Right to Public Service Act 2018, Police Order 2018 (ADR committees), besides giving go-ahead to a draft on policy for reallocation of sugar mills in the province and a draft law for the establishment of Punjab Skills Development Authority.
It approved the draft acts for the establishment of Namal Institute and bifurcation of the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences from Ameer-ud-Din Medical College/Postgraduate Medical Institute Lahore. A draft relating to the nominations and establishment of search committee for dealing with relevant matters including determination of educational qualification, experience and other matters for filling the post of vice chancellor of Punjab Tianjin University of Technology Lahore was also approved.
The cabinet also validated a notification pertaining to the establishment of Punjab University of Technology in Mandi Bahauddin, besides approving the audit reports of the Auditor General about public sector companies.
It was decided to constitute a cabinet committee for the construction of Dadhocha Dam on Ling River. The participants were told that upto 35 million gallons of water would be provided to Rawalpindi through this dam.
The cabinet also decided to expand the scope of health insurance programme to 19 more districts in the province. The participants agreed that the rate of provincial sales tax will be zero for health insurance programme. The meeting also accorded approval to Punjab Industrial Policy 2018 along with procedure of allotment in labour colonies.
