Islamabad: The federal government has decided to set up an autonomous body to oversee the early completion of projects being developed under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a news source reported. Minister for Planning, Development, and Reform Khusro Bakhtiar expressed his views on the matter during a press briefing on Saturday.

He said that the said body would serve as a platform to facilitate multi-sectoral coordination for development and implementation of future CPEC plans; enabling timely completion of the planned initiatives. To facilitate its creation, the government would soon table a bill in the parliament.
The minister said that the executive would contract the services of several experts from the private sector for inclusion in the autonomous panel. Similarly, the private sector would be included in the proposed Pakistan-China Business Council for ensuring effective implementation of the agricultural and industrial projects, he added.
