Islamabad: The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has reported an increase in cement sales for the month of May and has shared the corresponding statistics, a news source reported on June 1.

The data reveals that increase in cement sales in the country recorded a growth of 19.41% in May 2023, with total sales amounting to 3.966 million tons. In comparison, sales during the same month last year were recorded at 3.321 million tons. Local cement shipments by the industry reached 3.433 million tons in May 2023, compared to 3.150 million tons in May 2022, indicating a 9.01% increase. Additionally, export dispatches surged by 210.13%, with the volume rising from 171,915 tons in May 2022 to 533,155 tons in May 2023.
Furthermore, north-based cement mills dispatched 2.880 million tons of cement in May 2023, marking an 8.85% increase compared to the same period in 2022 when 2.646 million tons were dispatched. In the case of south-based cement mills, dispatches amounted to 1.086 million tons in May 2023, reflecting a significant 60.77% increase in comparison to the 0.676 million tons dispatched in May 2022.
The news source mentioned that the north-based cement mills’ domestic market dispatches in May 2023 amounted to 2.768 million tons, up from 2.573 million tons in May 2022. Similarly, the south-based mills witnessed a 15.36% increase in dispatches, reaching 664,891 tons of cement in the local markets during May 2023, compared to 576,385 tons in May 2022.

Reportedly, the total cement shipments (including exports and domestic sales) for the first eleven months of the current financial year amounted to 40.518 million tons, marking a 14.93% decrease compared to the 47.627 million tons dispatched during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
