Swat: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will inaugurate Phase-II of Swat Expressway tomorrow (January 5), stated Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Saturday (January 1), according to news sources.

As per the details, the Swat Motorway Phase-II is an 80-kilometre long extension to the existing Phase-I. The second phase will connect the Chakdara Interchange to Fatehpur, which will consist of 9 interchanges and 8 main bridges over River Swat. Moreover, phase-II of the expressway will pass through Swat and Malakand districts that will open the district for tourism.
Reportedly, the Swat Motorway (M-16) will start from the Kernal Sher Khan interchange on Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) and will end at Chakdara bridge on Nowshera-Chitral National Highway (N-45) at the south of Swat Valley.
CM Khan disclosed that currently, work is underway on 314 development projects in the Swat district, worth PKR 230 billion. He went on to say that six new universities are under construction while at least nine degree colleges are being developed in Swat.

Furthermore, the government aims to promote the tourism industry, for which new tourist resorts have been identified in Swat and Malakand division. CM Khan also mentioned that all the tehsil level hospitals have been upgraded.
