Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated the new building of the Punjab Assembly on Monday (January 2), according to the news published in the national dailies on January 3.

As per the details, a team from the National College of Arts (NCA) was responsible for the construction of a state-of-the-art dome. CM Elahi stated that the need for the next 100 years has been fulfilled as the new building can accommodate 500 members. It was mentioned that the Ayes Lobby for 200 people and Noes Lobby for as many people have been made. The new building has the capacity of up to 800 people for the Speaker’s Chamber, media, visitors, and officers. The CM disclosed that the offices have been constructed for Speakers, the Chief Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Deputy Speaker, and Ministers. The building features 3 committee rooms, a library, a conference room, a cafeteria, and parking for 400 vehicles.

Moreover, the Khatam-e-Nabuwat (PBUH) University Act, Khatam-e-Nabuwat (PBUH) Nazra and translation of Quran, and Muttahida Ulema Board, have been passed. The act for free medicines in an emergency, Rescue 1122, and tripled salaries for doctors have also been passed.
