Islamabad: Hollywood Actor and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has invited Prime Minister Imran Khan to address the Austrian World Summit to inspire world leaders in their fight against Climate Change, according to news sources.
This information was shared by the Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media Dr Arslan Khalid through his official Twitter account. ‘The world is recognising Pakistan’s effort to save the planet from the threat of climate change’, read the tweet. The Austrian World Summit is being managed by the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative — a global matchmaking event that ‘connect players from business, finance, NGOs and local & national governments committed to collaborating on sustainable projects’.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) launched the Billion Tree Tsunami Project in 2013. Under this vast reforestation project, the KP government planted trees on 350,000 hectares of land in the province. When PM Khan first came to power back in 2018, he launched the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project expanding the campaign to the entire country.
While attending the UN’s Climate Action Summit this year, the PM reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to cutting down greenhouse gas emissions in order to preserve biodiversity and tackle the menace of Climate Change.
