Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has stepped up its efforts to install improved CCTV cameras under the Safe City Project to reduce crime rates in the provincial capital, a news source reported. The provincial executive has also been making efforts to facilitate the early completion of the Quetta Safe City Project.
According to Quetta Safe City Project Director Nazeer Kurd, the authorities have begun installing the improved, high-definition cameras, under the pilot project phase, on Airport Road. He added that fibre optic cables were also being laid across the city to ensure better transmissions.

Former Balochistan Inspector General of Police (IGP), while speaking on the matter, said that the Safe City Project would prove effective in curbing crime around the city, and within the province as well. He informed that law enforcement officials were being trained on modern lines, in order to eradicate militancy from the province.
Up to 1,400 cameras would be installed around the city under the Quetta Safe City Project; geared towards monitoring 261 of the metropolis’s highly sensitive areas.
