Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) on Wednesday announced its decision to extend Section 144 in the city till April 30, a news source reported. The announcement comes in the wake of additional measures introduced to control the spread of novel coronavirus in Islamabad.

ICTA had imposed Section 144 in the city on March 24 to discourage public gatherings and promote social distancing. The imposition of Section 144 will now continue till April 30, along with other measures introduced by the district magistrate from time to time.
Following the recent lift of the ban on construction, the twin cities experience a rush of motorists on the roads. Meanwhile, shops of garments, cosmetics, and other items in major markets of Rawalpindi and Islamabad remained closed. These included Aabpara, Raja Bazaar, Karachi Company, Peshawar Mor, F-6, F-7, I-8, G-10, Commercial Market, Markaz, and Pindora.

According to official data, Punjab has reported on the most number of coronavirus cases in the country, followed by Sindh.
