Islamabad: During July 2018, the imports of construction machinery increased by 1.3%, according to a news report. As per the Pakistan Board of Statistics (PBS), machinery worth USD 39.50 million was imported, whereas during the same month last year, machinery worth USD 39.07 million was imported.
The PBS also states that during June 2018, construction machinery worth USD 23.632 million was imported to fulfil domestic requirements. The recent expansion has been attributed to construction activity all across the country. On the other hand, the import of machinery other than construction and agriculture witnessed a decrease of 20.83% in first month as it fell from USD 323.063 million in June 2017 to USD 255.779 million.
