Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday (October 13) ordered an expedition of the pace of work on different development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), according to news sources.

PM Khan chaired a meeting to review the progress of implementation of development projects in GB. During the meeting, the premier mentioned that effective measures are being taken to ensure the delegation of financial and administrative powers during uplift projects’ execution in GB. He also directed the concerned authorities to remove all the procedural and legal hurdles to facilitate the locals, who had to travel to Islamabad to resolve their issues. PM Khan ordered the provision of fast and reliable internet connectivity in the region so people can have access to better communication facilities.
Earlier, PM was informed that work on the historic five-year development package has started, which was announced by the government early this year. According to details, PKR 370 billion will be released for the five-year development package till the fiscal year 2025-26.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Khalid Khursheed, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Dr Shahbaz Gill, Federal Ministers Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Dr Muhammad Farogh Naseem, Muhammad Hammad Azhar, Syed Aminul Haque, and concerned senior officials.
