Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is ready to extend its support to revive Pakistan’s economy – a news source quoted IMF chief Christine Lagarde as saying.
She expressed her views on the matter during a meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan; held on the side-lines of the 7th World Government Summit in Dubai.

The two sides discussed recent economic developments in Pakistan with regard to a potential bail-out package. Lagarde said that the proposed IMF package would help restore Pakistan’s economy.
She stressed on the need to protect low-income groups as well as strengthening governance. She said these two areas were key priorities for the transnational funds body.

In response, the PM lauded the support extended by the IMF chief. He also shared his vision with regard to nation-building and good governance.
The prime minister said that his government was committed to implementing structural governance reforms, and strengthening the social sector in the country.
