Peshawar: The administration of the Pakistan Railways (PR) sealed illegal shops dotting the Hashtnagri Railway crossing on Thursday as a public safety measure, according to the news sources.
The officials reported that encroachers had set up shops on both sides of the train tracks in this locale of Peshawar, and despite receiving multiple notices to move, they refused to shift their establishments. The shopkeepers were also dodging rent payments, which forced the department to resort to harsh measures.

One of the officials revealed that the operation faced some resistance from the shopkeepers, but the situation was controlled with an intervention from the police. He said that these illegal establishments along the tracks have led to fatal accidents, yet it didn’t persuade people to exercise caution.
Some people even tried to sue the Railways for this step, but the court rejected their plea.
