Quetta: The provincial Director General (DG) of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Farmanullah Khan, has declared the mushrooming of illegal housing societies in Quetta to be a major challenge to the city’s development – as well as the main cause for Balochistan’s lack of progress, according to news sources.
He was addressing a ‘World Anti-Corruption Day’ ceremony at the Governor’s House on Monday, and added that hundreds of illegal housing societies had recently sprung up in Quetta in violation of building rules and regulations – thereby hindering the city’s development.

Further, the DG stressed on the upgradation of the province’s legal framework to meet its contemporary developmental demands; offering his department’s cooperation to the provincial government for evaluating existing laws and bolstering the system against the corrupt practices of the local land mafia.

He remarked that increased accountability and better regulations enforcement could collectively guarantee the province’s progress.
