Hyderabad: The Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has halted all construction activity on eight small projects, consisting of malls, clubs, and hotels being built in the Hyderabad Sindh Industrial Trade Estate (SITE), according to a news report.
In a notification issued by the SBCA, Regional Director Naveed Asim said that the ban is imposed in accordance with the Supreme Court order of 16th August 2018, mandated by the Judicial Commission on Water and Sanitation. The commission’s head, Justice (retd.) Amir Hani Muslim took notice of the conversion of industrial plots for commercial use and summoned officials of the SBCA and SITE to explain the law related to land conversion.
At the SITE area, there are 311 industries, 229 of which are functional, 38 plots are covered by warehouses and petrol pumps, and 44 other plots have been classified as sick units.
