Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has announced that the renovated IJP Road will be open for traffic by the end of March, news sources reported on February 27.

The CDA Chairman shared the news through his official Twitter account, announcing that the new and widened IJP Road will be completed by March 23. Consequently, this will reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow between Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Notably, the project was inaugurated in October 2021 and was awarded to the National Logistics Cell (NLC) after it came in as the lowest bidder. As per Project Concept-1 (PC-1), the project was originally scheduled to be completed in April 2023. However, the development work was expedited under the direction of Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif.

It is important to note that the government is undertaking massive road infrastructure development projects in the capital city. The government has launched the 9th Avenue, Bhara Kahu flyover, and IJP road as the three most important connectivity projects in the city.
