Islamabad: A Senate panel on Tuesday was informed that two packages of the Islamabad International Airport (IIA) Metro Bus project were scheduled for completion in March 2020, according to news sources. This information was revealed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms; presided over by Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani.
The Metro bus connecting the two cities was being completed in packages. The officials informed the Senate committee that the finished package included Peshawar Morr and Islamabad International Airport (IIA) and that the work on remaining projects was underway.

The meeting also mulled over the proposed toll tax increase on various motorways across the country. The National Highway Authority (NHA) officials informed the meeting that toll tax rates on sections M-1 and M-2 were increased against the average number of vehicles that commute on the said arteries. They maintained that the increase was in compliance with the contract.

The committee was also informed that the NHA required a sum of PKR 92 billion to renovate, repair and maintain motorways on an annual basis.
