Chief Justice Athar Minallah, while hearing a petition of an overseas Pakistani, asked the ministry to submit a written reply on its mechanism developed for solving such land disputes. He ordered the ministry to inform the court about its procedure for addressing grievances of overseas Pakistanis before the next hearing.
The law officer from the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) informed the court that a complaint cell had been established in 2011. Upon this, the court noted that the system was not working since the OPF had failed to contact the petitioner.

The IHC has now deferred the hearing until July 9 for further proceedings in this regard. In a previous hearing, the court had noted that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) was overwhelmed with land litigation cases of overseas Pakistanis, and had been unable to resolve disputes.
