Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has instructed the federal government to share its policy regarding regularisation of illegal constructions in the capital, reported a news source. The court demanded the government to present the policy in four weeks.

IHC gave these orders while hearing a case on regularisation of illegal buildings in Islamabad. In its written order, the court mentioned that regularisation of Grand Hyatt and illegal constructions in Bani Gala has made the situation complicated. The verdict calls for regularisation of all such buildings in Islamabad – in view of the equal rights of citizens.

The court directed the government to form a policy to negate the connotation that their regularisation policy is only to benefit the influential people. The government has also been directed to satisfy the court on its stance.

Commenting on the two cases, the court said that regularisation of illegal buildings will leave a deep-rooted impact on Islamabad. The two-member IHC bench comprising Justice Athar Minullah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan ordered the government to report its position on the next hearing schedule for April 4.
