Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday sought the responses of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development (OP&HRD) and the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) with regard to the land disputes of overseas Pakistanis, a news sources.

The IHC sought the responses following a petition that raised grievances of the overseas Pakistanis about litigations in land disputes. The IHC bench ordered the OP&HRD ministry and OPF to submit reports explaining the mechanism for facilitating overseas Pakistanis with regard to land disputes.
The court also directed an official of the ministry, who is well versed with the said mechanism, to resolve such land disputes to appear in court on the next date fixed. IHC has also asked a similar representative from the OPF to appear in court.

It noted that the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) was currently dealing with a large number of litigations related to overseas Pakistanis. The bench added that the overwhelming amount of unresolved disputes was violating the right of access to justice of overseas Pakistanis.
