Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to submit a report on the housing schemes developed without an approval under the CDA Ordinance, 1960, a news source reported.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued the directive while hearing a case pertaining to the demolition of a farmhouse. The IHC bench stated that the Pakistan Navy did not have the authority to operate, manage, or initiate housing schemes of commercial nature.

The court further asked the Director of Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Farms Naval Headquarters to submit an affidavit explaining which law permitted Pakistan Naval Farms to develop a housing scheme in violation of the CDA Ordinance, 1960.

The bench stated that illegal business activities related to housing schemes thrive in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and state institutions had been involved in these law violations. The bench also noticed that CDA demolished the houses and projects of those who were not powerful and privileged and overlooked the illegal activities of state departments and institutions.
The court deferred the next hearing of the case till May 21.
